More information needed...

** it's a kenmore oven **

I'm afraid that is not enough information to identify the appliance in question. What is needed is its exact model number.

You can find tips for locating the model and serial number identification tag on your appliances at the following link:

- Model Number Tag Search
LINK > www.appliance411.com/parts/tagsearch.cgi

** I replaced the ignitor **

For what reason did you replace it?

** it wont turn on **

Is there power to the appliance?

Did anyone check the oven gas valve for continuity?

Has anyone checked to make sure the control system (whatever type is used on whatever model you have) is supplying power to the oven ignition circuit?

Kenmore gas range

07/26/2008 02:42 AM DanO Moderator

** kenmore oven model 790.71053400 **

That appears to be the model number of a range (oven and cooktop combined).

* What about the answers to the other questions:

For what reason was the ignitor replaced?

Is there power to the appliance?

Did anyone check the oven gas valve (see the following link) for continuity?

- Kenmore 790.71053400 Oven Gas Valve

The oven on your range looks to be controlled by a conventional thermostat (see the link below). Its contacts should be able to be tested for continuity to see if it is capable of allowing power to flow to the oven ignition circuit.

Since the ignitor is new according to you I would assume it would be good in which case the only other possibility besides the components I mentioned is a problem in the wiring between those components.

You can read how such an oven ignition system is suppose to work at this link:
