Strong, Affordable Storm-Ready Housing Project

Installing Non-slip Exterior Tiles and Impact-Resistant Windows Video

Bob talks with Buba Barrow, the general contractor for the project, about finishing touches being added to the home. On the front porch, a non-slip tile is being installed. Because of the humidity and afternoon rain showers in Florida, it's important to use non-slip tile for exterior flooring. It's also important that the tile be resistant to mildew. Installing the windows on the home posed some problems. The windows themselves, WinGuard from PGT, were not a problem and feature impact-resistant glass and a sturdy frame. The problem was in the transition space between the window and the steel frame. A stucco stop was put around the window, replacing the rubber seal which had previously been in place and was peeling. Wire mesh was put in the space at first and filled in with stucco.
