Whole house fans are usually installed in an attic, flush with the ceiling of the house. When outside temperatures are cooler than inside temperatures (usually in the early evening), the air conditioner is turned off, and the windows are opened, the whole house fan pulls cool, fresh air into the house through the open windows and pushes the hot inside air out through attic vents.

Cool Your Home with a Whole House Fan
Effectively and efficiently cool your home with a Tamarack whole house fan. Designed to operate during evening and early morning hours, a whole house fan operates by bringing cooler outside air into your home.
Traditional whole house fans are noisy and uninsulated, leaving a large open whole in your ceiling. Moreover, these larger fans sometimes require you to cut your attic joists. Our fans are designed so that when they are not in use, you have an insulated air tight seal between your attic and living area. Our fans fit between standard 16" and 24" on center joists, making for easy installation.
The fans are available in 3 basic models:
HV1000 - 1000 cfm
HV1600 - 2 Speed Fan - 1600 cfm high/1000 cfm low
The Ghost - 2 Speed Fan - 2800 cfm high/1600 cfm low
The fans are sized according to the size and square footage of your home.
Using a whole house fan can reduce your summer cooling bills up to thirty percent, a smart investment that pays for itself in a very short time.
The Tamarack line of whole house fans have been laboratory tested for flow rates and blower door tested with virtually no leakage.

The Ghost's unique design includes a small lower housing that fits between 16" or 24" on center rafters. Internal motorized and insulated doors open into the fan chamber when the unit is turned on, then the 20" diameter fan blade begins drawing the air out of the living space and into your attic. |
