How to repair driveway spalding?

Posted by joeiggy1 on July 26th, 2008 10:55 PM

I just power washed my 3 year old concrete driveway in prep for sealing. I have a hairline crack and a number of spots with spalding. Each spot is about the size of a nickel and maybe only 1/8" deep. Home Depot carries tubes of "GE Silicone II Sealant for Concrete & Masonry" and "Sikaflex Concrete Fix" in a tube. I thought I'd use one of these for the hairline crack, but am not sure if either would be better for spalding than Premixed concrete patch. I intend to put liquid sealer (Behr #980 Concrete & Masonry Waterproof). Here are my three questions: (1) How to prep spalding, e.g., make the dent deeper? (2) What should I use to patch the spalding (Concrete patch or tube of filler, or someting else? (3) Is GE better than Sikaflex?

I'd appreciate any advice on any of the questions.

Thanks,

Joe
