The AeroGarden Harvest Indoor Garden comes ready to go with six pods and non-GMO seeds (basil, parsley, dill, thyme, Thai basil, and mint) plus plant food. As a soil-free system with nutrients delivered directly to the roots, it preps plants to grow in as little as 4 weeks.
Like many AeroGarden models, the Harvest kit makes growing herbs easy: Fill the water tank with filtered water from a reverse osmosis system, adjust the LED light as close as possible to the surface of the grow deck, and drop the pre-seeded pods into the growing ports. Lights are on a timer, so all you had to do was hit the power button. The lights automatically follow a 16-hour-on, 8-hour-off schedule. Every 30 minutes or so, its pump recirculated the water within the tank.
There’s nothing more to do except wait! On our own kits, we spotted teeny seedlings by 6 days and had all the seeds sprouted to 1 to 3 inches tall in 3 weeks’ time. After that, they grew rapidly, bolstered by plenty of light and liquid fertilizer. And lest that scare you, no green thumb is required to know the watering or fertilizer schedule. The AeroGarden Harvest prompts via a bright green light to add more fertilizer to the tank. Likewise, when the water level dipped too low, a bright blue light appeared, reminding us to refill the tank. Beyond that, the only “work” is to harvest and enjoy more fresh herbs in your daily cooking. When you’re ready to rotate your crops, you can get even more creative with what you plant.
