American Home Shield offers comprehensive and well-rounded appliance and systems coverage via three plans (home buyers and sellers can also take advantage of one of these plans with a few amendments to the coverage terms):
- ShieldSilver: This is AHS’s basic coverage plan, which focuses on home systems such as heating and cooling, plumbing, and electrical systems.
- ShieldGold: This plan covers the same systems as AHS’s basic plan but adds coverage for kitchen and laundry appliances. It also offers up to $3,000 for repair or replacement per appliance.
- ShieldPlatinum: This is the highest tier and therefore the most comprehensive of the three plans: it covers everything included in the ShieldSilver and ShieldGold plans and adds roof-leak protection (which would otherwise need to be purchased as an add-on) a free annual HVAC tune-up, and unlimited AC refrigerant refills. This policy can also provide up to $1,000 per year to bring home systems up to code, and offers up to $6,000 per appliance for repair or replacement.
