About
Zach Lazzari is a freelance writer splitting time between the great outdoors, travel, and DIY projects ranging from camper builds to home renovations and maintenance. With over a decade of professional writing experience, he covers a variety of projects and maintenance topics for BobVila.com.
Experience
Zach’s writing career began with a small newspaper fishing column while he was working as a fly-fishing guide in Lake City, Colorado. He soon expanded to cheap content pieces, paying the bills but desiring work with more depth and personal investment. This led him on a journey down the Pan-American highway, driving through 13 Latin-American countries and writing stories about rafting, fly-fishing, and long-term travel with a dog. His portfolio includes publications such as The Drake Magazine and Angling Trade as well as brand work for Leatherman, Northwest River Supply, and plenty more.
Education
True to his nomadic theme, Zach attended the University of Missouri, University of Nevada-Reno, Western Colorado University, and Arizona State University, all while bouncing between seasonal jobs in Colorado, Alaska, Montana, and Chile.

Proudest DIY
Zach built a camper van, an old 1994 GMC Safari with 200K on the clock, and outfitted it for full-time travel with electricity and water storage. With Zach’s roadside mechanic skills and some basic carpentry, it made the journey from Montana to southern Chile.
