The holiday is just days away, and Labor Day sales have shored up end-of-season discounts on a lot of categories—including and especially outdoor tools. We’ve already seen sales on leaf blowers that the Bob Vila team has tested and recommended, starting at $150.

This year, like many homeowners, I’m planning to take advantage of the sale to build out my outdoor tool collection before the first leaves drop. (After handling most of my first fall in my home with just a rake, I’m ready to upgrade to an electric blower to clear out all of the leaves from the woods off of my backyard.) Keep reading for the leaf blower, mower, chainsaw, and other outdoor deals that caught my eye.

The Best Labor Day Leaf Blower Deals

Ego Power+ 56V Battery Leaf Blower (5 Ah Battery and Charger Included) at Lowe’s for $299.99 (Save $30)

I’m building my outdoor tool kit from the Ego Power+ 56-volt line, so I’m particularly interested in savings on a model that’s interchangeable with the battery and charger I already own. This 765 CFM unit (which boasts 200 MPH airspeed) is the most powerful Ego option for residential use, and we’ve tested a few of the Ego leaf blower models. Our lawn and garden tool guru, Mark Wolfe shared, “In action, the Ego 765 actually felt noticeably more powerful than the 650. When I pushed the Turbo button, it produced a bit of kickback that the 650 did not. That extra power was helpful for moving the heaviest yard debris, like wet leaves.”

This deal does include a battery and charger. If you have these already, you can get a slightly better discount at Amazon for the tool only—down to $187 (save $62).

Greenworks 40V Cordless Brushless Leaf Blower (4.0Ah Battery and Charger Included) at Amazon for $149.99 (Save $100)

This cordless leaf blower/vacuum is a multitasking tool, designed with a bonus internal mulching function to break down large leaves, grass, small sticks, and other debris for efficient and compact disposal in a yard bag. Its narrower tube makes for a higher airspeed (185 MPH) and slightly lower air volume (340 CFM) than the comparable battery-operated blowers, but the Greenworks blower still earned top marks in our tests. “It cleared wet and dry leaves well but seemed to take a bit longer to do so. In the vac/mulch configuration, it only struggled sucking up the large, stiff, dried leaves of our magnolia tree because they clogged the tube. The impeller mechanism had no problems grinding them to a fine mulch,” according to Wolfe.

Toro Flex-Force 60V Max Battery Leaf Blower (4 Ah Battery and Charger Included) at Lowe’s for $249 (Save $50)

This Toro leaf blower harnesses the power of the 60V Max Flex-Force battery to clear piles of leaves with 605 CFM and 157 MPH. Like others on this short list, its variable speed control allows the user to optimize it for the task at hand: Set its “cruise control” on its lowest speed for up to 140 minutes of runtime to move large, dry piles, and switch maximum power for a pile of wet leaves using the turbo-boost. Lowe’s shoppers rate it 4.6 out of 5 stars.
