The Black Friday sales seem to start earlier and earlier. This year was no exception: As soon as the Halloween decorations came down, I was receiving mailers from Costco, emails from Lowe’s, push notifications from my Wayfair app, and more to let me know about big discounts on large appliances. And I was ready, because, boy, could we use a new refrigerator!
Historically, the best time of the year to buy appliances has been the major holidays at the end of the year: Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Lots of big-box retailers are discounting refrigerators, dishwashers, washers, dryers and sweetening the deal for shoppers, especially those who buy more than one unit from a brand. If you’re looking for a new appliance right now, don’t overlook these three major selling points that are emerging:
- Buy More, Save More campaigns can shave as much as $1,000 off of the total cart.
- Free delivery and free haul-away of old appliances can save a couple hundred dollars, depending on the retailer and other options for disposal.
- Discounted (or free) warranties or service plans could be a tie-breaker between retailers with a model you like for the same price.
