I tested the Clorox Air Humidifier with UV Light to see if this compact machine kept my bedroom comfortably humid without keeping me awake with a noisy fan. Humidifiers can be a savior if you struggle with dry skin, especially during the winter when humidity levels drop outside and indoor heating cranks up. I tested the appliance in my New York City apartment bedroom, where space is at a premium and I value silence at night.

Here’s how testing went, and what you should know if you’re looking for the best compact humidifier for your home.

Clorox Air Humidifier: At a Glance

Clorox is known for high-performing home cleaning products, and this appliance is the next evolution of the product line. The humidifier is shaped like a tapered square column that can sit on the floor or a table. It emits evaporative steam at three levels. The device has handy features like a target humidity level you can set and a built-in UV light for self-cleaning. This is a smaller humidifier, though, so if you’re looking for something powerful enough to change the air quality in your entire space or you have a large room to manage, consider one of our favorite whole-house humidifiers

Our rating: 5/5

Testing the Clorox Air Humidifer

I have used the Clorox Air Humidifier every night for the past two months. I set the machine next to my bed and set it to quiet mode all night. Every couple of days, when the water runs low, I refill it in the sink and carry on. I always check for mold or debris inside the water container and will clean it when necessary, but so far, the reservoir has remained sparkling clean between refills.

What We LikeWhat We Don’t Like
Large capacity doesn’t need constant refillingMay not be suitable for large rooms
Very quiet for sleeping

Setting up the Clorox Air Humidifier

It’s quick and easy to get this humidifier up and running. The box contains everything you need: the humidifier base with an attached power cord, the water reservoir, and the lid. To start, I filled the one-gallon tank using tap water, popped it into place, added the lid, and pressed the power button. It immediately dispensed a fine, cool mist, and I could adjust the settings from there.

When the water tank empties, which takes about 40 hours on low or 13 hours on high, I refill it in the kitchen sink (the reservoir is too tall to fit under the faucet in my bathroom). The machine’s built-in UV light automatically turns on when it’s plugged in, so it’s fighting bacteria in the water.

Clorox Humidifer Features

This humidifier has several features that set it apart from basic small room humidifiers. First, the UV light in the base of the machine sanitizes the water and prevents mold and bacteria from building up. With other humidifiers I’ve used, I always end up with a gunky pink residue at the bottom of the reservoir after just one full tank. With this Clorox model, though, I haven’t seen a smudge of pink mold in the past two months of consistent use.

The humidifier has four levels: low, medium, high, and nighttime mode. I use the sleep setting overnight, and though I’m a very light sleeper and place the appliance about a foot from my bed, it doesn’t disturb me.

If you have a target humidity level for your home, you can select it on the front of the machine. The humidifier will automatically dispense mist as necessary to maintain this humidity level. This helps limit energy and water use and keeps your home just how you like it.

How Easy is the Humidifier to Operate?

This humidifier couldn’t be easier to use. It has six buttons on the front. One is the power to turn the machine on and off. Another is a light bulb to illuminate the machine like a night light (choose from seven color options). The water drop icon allows you to set your desired humidity level for auto-mode, the fan icon dials the power up or down, and the timer button adjusts the runtime from 1 to 12 hours, so the machine will automatically turn off if you forget. Finally, the moon icon turns the machine to nighttime mode for the quietest operation.

I found these buttons easy to navigate and straightforward. Because the humidifier has a UV LED light, it rarely needs a deeper clean. But when necessary, you can clean the water reservoir in the sink with warm soapy water and a sponge or scrub brush.

And Did We Mention it Won’t Break the Bank?

At $60, this humidifier is a worthwhile investment. It has a larger capacity than cheaper options, and the self-cleaning UV light is worth a few extra dollars. Considering how reliable and durable the product is, we think it’s a bargain.

Is the Clorox Air Humidifier right for you?

If you’re looking for a compact humidifier that won’t dominate your space and is quiet enough to sleep near, this humidifier fits the bill. It’s reasonably priced and the built-in UV light is a game-changer for keeping mold and bacteria away. While you can find larger capacity humidifiers that won’t need refilling as often, this is a great choice for a small room or apartment.
