I’ve used a Swiffer on and off for over a decade, mostly for small sweeping or mopping jobs. The convenience of switching out the dry sweeping and mopping pads made this system my go-to for quick cleanups or picking up dog hair. Plus, I liked that I could throw away the mopping pads after scrubbing germy bathroom floors.
When I saw that Swiffer was coming out with a new and improved version of the original system called the Swiffer Sweep and Mop Deluxe, I was happy to test it. I spent a month using it to sweep and scrub floors, walls, and baseboards. While it looks similar to the original Swiffer 2-in-1, the subtle updates truly make this one superior.

Swiffer Sweep and Mop Deluxe
There are three notable improvements that I love: a more sturdy pole, a collapsible design that makes it compact for storage, and a locking head that makes it easier to clean almost anything—from floors and walls to baseboards and even that super tight area behind the toilet.
I’ll be honest: one of my biggest frustrations with the original Swiffer 2-in-1 was that when I tried to scrub a sticky spot on the floor, the lightweight mop head would kick up, making the job quite frustrating. Thanks to the more durable design, that problem is gone. I scrubbed numerous messes, including sticky apple juice, tracked-in mud, and even dollops of dried-on ketchup from my hardwood and vinyl floors, and the mophead stayed where I needed it.
While the Swiffer Sweep and Mop Deluxe does a good job of cleaning hard floors, my favorite use for it is dusting walls and baseboards. Thanks to the locking mophead, I was able to dust the top of every baseboard in my house—no bending over or crouching necessary.
I also used the included heavy-duty dry sweeping pads to remove dust and cobweb buildup from my walls and then gave the walls a once-over with the mop pads. The mop pads easily removed regular build-up from the walls of living areas, as well as makeup and toothpaste smears on my kids’ bathroom walls. My home has a combination of eggshell, semigloss, and flat paint sheens, and the mop pads didn’t remove any paint or leave any weird marks behind.
I also appreciated the collapsible design. With a click of a button and a gentle push, the Swiffer Sweep and Mop Deluxe collapses to just 25 inches tall, making it small enough to lay inside a cabinet. The handle also has a generous-sized hole at the top for convenient hook storage.
While the Swiffer is not my go-to for deep-cleaning—a good old-fashioned hard floor vacuum and spin mop are still my preferred tools for that—I’ll keep using it for my bathroom floors and for cleaning walls and baseboards.
If you have the original Swiffer or just like products that make clean-up quick and easy, this sturdy, easy-to-store upgrade is worthy of a place in your cleaning cabinet.
