Keeping your pool surface free of debris is one of the most important tasks involved in pool maintenance—not to mention the most repetitive, even labor-intensive. Robotic pool skimmers can help automate this chore, using battery-powered motors and sensors to suck up leaves, insects, and other litter that may contaminate pool water. Up until now, some of the challenges that these pool skimmers have faced included navigation problems, short battery life, and poor suction. Beatbot has revolutionized pool maintenance and made pool time feel luxurious once again with the launch of the first intelligent pool skimmer, the iSkim Ultra.

We’ve been following Beatbot since it debuted an all-in-one robotic pool cleaner at CES (Consumer Electronics Show) this year. With its most recent launch, they remain on the cutting edge. The new solar-powered skimmer boasts state-of-the-art features not yet seen on competing models: 24-watt solar panels, AI-enhanced navigation, a clarifying system that helps keep pool water clear beyond the surface itself, and more. It’s one of the most advanced robotic pool skimmers available, making it the ideal option for pool owners looking to fully modernize their pool cleaning routine. Perhaps best of all, these technological firsts and improvements allow pool owners more time to enjoy being in the water and less time cleaning it for a truly relaxing outdoor experience.

Premium Design Upgrades

Beatbot is known for combining performance with a refined, almost futuristic style. The iSkim Ultra—the company’s first-ever skimmer—is no exception. The 17-pound unit has a sleek, luxurious design that moves easily through the water and looks great in any pool setting. The high-end skimmer has even received international acclaim as a Gold Winner 2024 of Muse Design Awards, which recognize leaders in innovation and design excellence.

The iSkim Ultra’s thoughtful design also extends inside the unit, where an industry-leading system of seven motors helps propel the robot quickly and efficiently around the pool. An innovative combination of brushes capture as much debris around the robot as possible, including one large 265-millimeter front roller brush and two 93-millimeter diameter dual-side brushes with 16 individual bristles. These brushes work together to draw water and debris toward the mouth of the unit, where the large front brush sweeps it into a 9-liter filter. That superior brush design alone makes it much more efficient than other robots on the market, which tend to push debris around the pool rather than catch it.

New Cleaning and Clarifying Capabilities

Once the debris is drawn in by the brushes, the iSkim Ultra’s specially designed filtration system ensures pool gunk traps the gunk, no matter how big or small. At 9 liters, the filter is sizable enough to hold up to 800 medium-size leaves, making it great for cleaning larger pools. At the same time, its nylon construction is fine enough to catch even the tiniest materials, such as sand and loose dirt. It also boasts an anti-spill hatch design that keeps the debris from floating back out of the unit as it moves through the water. When full, the filter can be quickly and easily emptied thanks to a one-touch release and wide-mouth opening.

Beyond efficiently skimming debris from the surface, the iSkim Ultra incorporates another stand-out feature designed to keep a pool sparkling clean: the ClearWater Clarification System. As the robot moves across the surface sucking up debris, it can dispense a natural clarifier made from recycled crab shells, which aids the removal of dirt and oil from the water and prevents scum buildup and discoloration. The package includes one clarifying kit, which lasts about a month with weekly use; other kits must be bought separately.

Smarter Navigation

Navigating the entire length and width of a pool can be challenging for most skimmers (particularly one that’s a non-standard shape or filled with unexpected obstacles). They can get stuck or simply fail to clean around corners and edges. The iSkim Ultra uses advanced sensor and AI technology to scan the full surface and plan the best path for obstacle avoidance and thorough coverage. It uses a total of 20 high-precision sensors to navigate the most efficient cleaning, including two that sit above the water detecting obstacles to avoid and another sensor sits below the water scanning along edges and corners for debris that may collect there. Paired with Beatbot’s proprietary AI-driven algorithms, these sensors help the robot understand and navigate virtually any size pool, from above-ground models to kidney and even free-form ones.

Hands-free Control

The iSkim Ultra may be fully automated and hands-off, but it still puts total control at users’ fingertips through Beatbot’s responsive smart app. By linking the robot to the app via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, users can set the cleaner’s speed and schedule cleaning tasks at the most convenient hours (i.e., any time that’s not swim time), even spot clean or park it along the pool wall on command. The app also serves up a host of information about the unit and its surroundings, including current cleaning progress and data, solar charging and battery levels, and water temperature. No need to even pick up a phone while lounging poolside, though: The robot’s Voice Broadcast is capable of announcing much of this information out loud.

Continuous Solar Power

As Beatbot’s first solar-powered pool robot, the iSkim Ultra requires almost no manual charging to keep itself powered and ready to go. As long as it’s exposed to direct sunlight, the 24-watt panel atop the unit can keep the 10,000 milliamp-hour battery topped off and allow for continuous, 24-hour operation. Even when the sunlight is intermittent, such as on a cloudy day or in a pool partially obscured by trees, special SolarTrack technology helps the machine locate and move into areas of sunlight strong enough for charging.

Should the unit run out of juice at night or on completely overcast days, the iSkim Ultra can rely on power stored in its impressive battery or its magnetic wireless charger. Whether via wireless or solar, the battery takes approximately 5 hours to obtain a full charge—though, as long as it has consistent access to sunlight, it likely won’t require that much downtime.
